So 3 years went by...

Ok, so, I haven't done anything with the blog for three years now. But that is mostly because I pretty much figured nobody was reading it. :p

You can see videos of my 2014 offerings so far: Starlight and Follow me... Also worth mentioning is of course last year's Spaceflight 3, which took a heck of an effort to put out. There's even more to hear and see if you're so inclined on my YouTube and/or my SoundCloud account.

Certainly things have been changing. I picked up a job at the local library, started volunteering at the local community center to help teach computers to people, and switched to Linux. I've put my gaming on pause since the beginning of 2014 to try and see what I can accomplish. So far- a lot, but I miss playing games, sooner or later I will return to it.

All of these life changes are the result of this book. Yes I realize it is just supposed to be a kids fantasy book about dragons. But to me, it is so much more. The story came at just the right time I suppose to cause a lot of introspection. I truly envy the character Clay.

Still using SkaleTracker for now, I've even gotten it fully functional in Linux. I really need to find a new tracker to use, I'm hitting the limits of what Skale can do. Maybe I'll try Renoise again, but last time I checked it out, it couldn't even do what Skale does now.

  1. Just found your music on youtube. Listening to 'Outer Perspective' as of this writing. I like the "A World of 256 Possibilities" song, as that's what drew me here. I'd downloaded the Mod Archive torrents a while back, and was going through the songs and the mentioned one happened to pop out at me for being incredibly small, but sounding very clean. Personally I wouldn't mind hearing a remix of that song using updated samples and/or FX.

If you're looking for another tracker, there are several you could try if you have the patience to learn them. I don't know how you feel about Open MPT (Spiritual successor to ModPlug Tracker), but for more advanced music composing software, the likes of Fruity Loops (FL Studio), and Propellerhead Reason, and Cubase could serve your purposes as those have likely more advanced features than MPT and likely many other trackers. I'm no composer, but I've more or less followed the scene of tracking for my adult life, and also like what the guys over at Overclocked Remix have done, and the tools they favor.

Of course for playing mods, I favor XMPlay, as I haven't found any other player of mod files that can sound so good with minimal DSP without going into a dedicated tracker. Plus keeping the mods in their native format rather than converting them to MP3 or other saves disk space, specially on mobile devices. I also like to be able to mess with them a little like increase the tempo or the global tone pitch in a tracker or in ModPlug Player for kicks, though XMP doesn't have that feature... (I really wish it did though)

So I just wanted to let you know that while you are a bit under the radar, you are not to be ignored entirely. I like your tunes and will likely try and keep up with any new releases in the future.

    Cheers
